Now, I may not agree or support the choices that Karrine has made in her life as a video girl, however I have been following her "career" and she's made significant changes in the direction of her life. As she said, she is now married, with two children, and 31 yrs old. She is also quite intelligent as you could probably tell from the way she enunciates and verbalizes her thoughts clearly despite being riddiculed... (she was an English major in College)..

SO.. my problem with this is that #1 its the CW network which has a number of "black" shows.. #2.. I feel that this type of response is the reason why some young black women feel that they can never change their lives because they will always be known by their past... #3 They anchors showed her no respect.. it was as if they looked down upon her when she's accomplished quit a bit as a NY Times Best Seller..

It saddened me that the sole purpose of that interview was to trap Karrine into saying she was a "hoe" and how many rappers she's been with.. I also feel that there was a level of immaturity displayed by news anchors who are supposed to have some type of credibility... It's fine to have an opinion, but their job was to interview and promote her book.. Instead it turned ito, "well she's just a rump shaker in some rap videos". Makes you wonder what they think about ALL black girls.. In summation.. I was appauled...

SO... Transformers 2 was AMAZING.. even though I fell asleep.. but I definitely was up long enough to see these two autobots who were depicting a slew of black stereotypes...

Then I read this article about it.. Allyson Nadia Field, an assistant professor of cinema and media studies at the University of California, Los Angeles said this:

"There's a persistent dehumanization of African-Americans throughout Hollywood that displaces issues of race onto non-human entities.. It's not about skin color or robot color. It's about how their actions and language are coded racially."

well said.

You cant really see it in this picture, but the green one has buck teeth and one of them are gold. In each scene they banter back and forth in "jive/broken ebonics"... Even though it may have been intended for comic relief, its still offensive because why do they have to "talk black" in order to get a laugh?

I've had a horrible academic week...

I feel like just when I get my shit together.. and have a definite plan to get out of college.. something happens to set me back.. Every semester it gets harder and harder for me to stay focused on the lame ass mandatory classes.. because...

If im not interested.. I check out...

If im not passionate about it.. I dont feel like I should do it..

So many internal conflicts about college..

Freshman year.. mann.. i had straight As.. I was involved in my classes.. basically.. I gave a fuck..

Now.. 3 years later.. I've changed majors 3 times.. which at Baruch costs me about 2-3 semesters... which then leads me to graduate in 5 years instead of 4.. Still an undeclared major...

Its not even the timetable that bothers me.. because.. really... whats out there in the real world for me right now? the economy sucks=no jobs..

The problem is... my heart isn't in it... the bestie Ginnette motivates me everyday (even though i act non chalant about it haha).. Her determination to get to her goal of being in medicine and her sacrifices inspire me so much..

I know im smart... I know I can bust down these last classes and get the fuck out of Baruch.. but i feel so defeated.. and worn out.. mentally & physically...

Maybe this summer I'll get refreshed.. & have tons of motivation...

I've never been to First Saturdays before.. and Emily had to go for her class so I decided to tag along.. First of all, I cant believe that an event like this is F R E E... but i dont ask questions lol.. We got there around 7:30 and the place was PACKED.. We couldnt decide where to go first so, Emily and I headed straight to the cafe..

There.. we had some bomb ass mac n cheese.. although it was tad salty (haha)

We headed upstairs and met up with Wordspit & Dave.. andddd thenn.. the non stop laughter began..

I've been single a little over a year now.. & dated 2 dudes seriously during that time and the rest were casual.. With all this alone time, I've learned soo much about myself, what I want and the way dudes think (or don't think)...

Based on my friends' & I's experiences I have a theory (my girls laugh may laugh at me but they KNOW its true):
If you have your shit together, meaning going to college, working, & have goals, etc.. Dudes don't want you NOW, they want you 2-5 years from now.. When they're done running through the rest & want a "wifey/real commitment"... Then if your attractive/sexy, be prepared for the bang out requests..

Ugh! Its so retarded.. And most guys do some variation of that..

Logically there's nothing wrong with that type of thinking given that we're all young & single.. However, girls are emotional creatures.. It takes a strong girl to separate emotions from casual or sexual relationships in order to not get attached... I can do that but eventually, I want to let that guard down & have something real..

I think I'm pretty well rounded.. I go to college, I work, I intern, all while building my unconventional career along the way.. Plus I'm kinda cute, my dimensions are excellent & I have good teeth..

So why wouldn't a dude want to have an intelligent, driven, motivated, cool, sports loving girl by their side? I mean.. could you really ask for anything more?

So last week was my Spring Break (late as hell because i go to a CUNY)... Emily and I were bored as fuck and decided to venture out into L.E.S. like we always do.. and she put me on to this teeny-tiny spot called Caracas... Authentic Venezuelan food.. Their man dish is a variation of Arepas, which is a flat, cornmeal patty... kinda like a burger bun.. but then they stuff it with plantains, spanish cheese, avacado and/or whatever else you want... sooo good... AND pretty damn cheap.. Less than $7 with a drink..
